Eat, Pray, Love @ the Earthling's Haven
Tuesday, February 20, 2007 Greetings from the Piggies!!!!

Close friends of mine are fully aware of the doggie residents in my house. To give them a day off during this lunar festival, I shall give them a break and not elaborate on the pair of doggies today.

Many however, are not aware of the number of Pigs we have collected over the years. I went around taking photos of the prominent ones who have kindly agreed to grace the living room for the Year of the Pig.

First we have, Ms Samsoon from Korea! Ms Charsiew's (Whiney sister) latest pet.

Piglet, Whom have been with moi since since my TP days.

From Hong Kong , Pork Chop's soft toy Porkie made an appearance with piggies from other regions of Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore.

From Chinatown, Ah Ter and his Gal .........................

And here's wishing all a Happy and Prosperous New Year!!!

Monday, February 19, 2007 I'm baking bunnies!!!

I have always wanted a pet rabbit. When I need a break from my daily routine to spend time with me, myself and I, I will find myself wandering around pet shops peering in at rabbits in their cages, smiling to myself at their antics and wishing for some miracle to happen so that I will own one of these rabbits and be able to bring them around to show them off like how some of my friends show off their newborns and toddlers.

Indeed, I think my rabbit will look pretty smart in a pink dress with bows, like the ones that Bobo is being made to wear everyday. My friends, male and female alike, screwed up their noses and looked quite ugly for a minute as they chided me for being obsessed over a fat toy dog.

I guessed if I were to talk about a pet rabbit, their reaction will be less explosive and less ugly.
My dreams faded away bit by bit as friends commented that rabbits smell bad and they are rather solidarity animals as they are not as affectionate as doggies. ("Dun start on Bobo, for goodness sake's!!!" they bellowed, as I smiled and nodded my head in agreement at the mere mention of the word 'doggies'.)

"And you need to be well-prepared to take care of them! They are not Soft Toys......" they blinked at me and looked worried for a minute.

Ok, fine I get it. So in the midst of my rabbit dreams while shopping at Plaza Singapura I came across the cutest rabbit shaped cookie cutters. I grabbed one set of those without hesitation and voila! here's the result of that shopping trip:

Togi Restaurant.....At last

At last, after weeks of reading up on tempting online reviews on Togi Restaurant, we finally get to eat Authentic Korean food in SG!!!!

Yay! We made a reservation for a table at 6.30pm. Hence, after the "Death Note II" movie, we rushed down in a cab to Mosque Street.
The place was bustling with people and we were glad that we had made reservation instead of walking in. We were served some chilled fragrant tea while waiting for our orders to arrive.

From top: Marinated thick slices of Pork with fresh mushrooms and ginger and onions ready to be grilled and eaten wrapped in cabbage leaves. I love this dish, but be sure to use your hands to hold the wrapped package instead of using your chopsticks. When in an authentic Korean restaurant, do as the Koreans do!

I ordered the Seafood ramen as well. Tasted rather like instant Korean noodles but more flavourful and the ramen has a nice texture.

The last dish seems to be Ping's favourite as she ate up the last bits of the dish. Squid with beef in kimchi sauce. A simple dish but mouth-watering nonetheless.

Not forgetting the side dishes that they were so generous with: If you like the taste and smell of sesame oil, you will love the stir-fried vegetables and pickles.

Our verdict at the end of the meal? We will definitely be back for more and for that pear juice that we had to give a miss as we were too bloated to stomach any drink.

It seems only yesterday............

when we received our PSLE results in 1991, got posted to our Secondary schools, graduated from NTU / NUS / TP / NIE, attended Jing's housewarming, meet up with her before her delivery, visiting her dear little boy for the first time and attending another classmate, Qin's wedding dinner in 2006.

So here we are again, in the final month of 2006, having the last gathering of the year at Genki Sushi before we look forward to another and another good year ahead.

We were discussing anti-aging creams, the classmates we had in primary schools , work and relationship.......Bobo, my sisters...etc

Some people were amazed that I'm still keeping in touch with my primary school mates.

"That's like so ages ago!" One remarked to my chargin. " I can't even remember the names of my primary school mates!" Another sighed in her thoughts to me over coffee.

"Heheh! Then I'm the lucky one lah! At least I managed to keep the friends I made so many years ago!" I gave them the Victory sign as I flashed a grin.

Indeed, these ladies had indeed formed part of the precious memories I will always cherish in the many years to come. The primary school years were quite turbulent for me in some ways but I have gone through and enjoyed my primary school years tremendously with the gals.

Here's to many more years of friendship and great company! Sally and Wanjing!!!!

That's US!!!

It's the time of the year again, a time to feast without guilt, a time for sinful treats, a time to make merry and have fun.....with food.

We had the following at my place on the 2nd day:

Chocolate Fondue!!! not a very successful attempt though....

Yam Paste from Ah Moy market and garden salad with Japanese sesame dressing.

Kong bak bao filling with the bao that resembles Bobo's feet...heheheh!
