The making of: .... Oolong tea and Jasmine Tea Jelly
Recipe for the Jellies ( adapted from Chilled desserts from the Japanese Kitchen)
Ingredients: 11/2 Tbsp Gelatin powder 3 Tbsp water (normal temperature) 11/2 cups Jasmine Tea / Oolong Tea 3 Tbsps Honey ( adjust according to preference) 2-3 Tbsps Lemon Juice ( ") A handful of dried White Fungus / For Oolong tea, use 1 Tbsp Wolfberries
For Syrup *** (for both jellies) 1 Tbsp water 1/2 Tbsp Honey 1/2 Lemon juice
For Jasmine Tea Jelly, soak White Fungus in water until softened. Boil for about 2 mins, then soak in cold water for 20 mins. Remove stem parts from fungus. / For Oolong Tea, soak Wolfberries in Hotwater until softened.
Sprinkle gelatin over 3 Tbsps of water. Stir quickly and leave for 5 mins.
Heat tea in saucepan and add honey, stirring until dissolved. Add lemon juice and stir well.
For Oolong Tea jelly, mix in wolfberries. For Jasmine Tea, just stir and leave it aside. You might want to be creative and add in some other ingredients such as rose petals though.
Place the bowl of gelatin over another bowl of hot water (around 60 degree celsius) Stir the gelatin till it dissolves. Note that the gelatin should not be boiled or the dessert will not set.
Mix into tea mixture, stirring quickly.
Pour mixture into dessert cups or jelly moulds ( I think it looks more elegant when served in a small tea cup or glass dessert cup.)
Put in refrigerator and chill for an hr or until dessert set.
For Jasmine Tea Jelly, garnish with white fungus
For Syrup:
Mix water, honey and lemon juice. Serve with Jellies. ( I spooned some over the dessert.)

Nandos Restaurant: Le Mexicane ou Le Portuguese?
Chatted with fellow foodie WYing, (who prefers to be known as Sydney Tay) on MSN. Sydney went to the Nandos at Oxford where she's residing for a few months before returning to SG in Oct. I guess there's a Nandos everywhere except SG. We were daydreaming of franchaising the restaurant when I finished my studies and she's happily back in SG permanently. That would be 3 1/2 years later. I checked out her comments on the blog and realised that Nandos could be a Portuguese restaurant. Went to google the restaurant and found these:
MEXICAN Nandos RestaurantUnit 204, The Chimes Centre, Uxbridge UB8 1GE01895 274277

http://www.nandos.co.uk/ Way back in the 15th Century, in the rich soils and intense heat of Southern Africa, our Portuguese forefathers discovered the African Birds Eye Chilli. Known as PERi-PERi, this fiery little chilli combined with special herbs and spices, lemon and a touch of garlic are the ingredients that give our Nando's original PERi-PERi
SO? I think good recipes and fresh ingredients will make any dish yummy regardless of culture, nationality or history................................(sounds familar)

We went home in an Aeroline coach. I have my first experience of having my dinner on board a coach. This is rather airline style with a stewardess serving us with drinks and snacks and even blankets. The nasi lemak was as good as the ones sold at the hawker centres and the best dish was the lotus root stir-fried with cauliflower and celery. It's not easy to make lotus root that crunchy. The curry chicken was better than I expected, so I had a most fulfilling dinner though I had a bit of a difficulty trying to eat from the tray when the coach was moving too fast.

Nandos Restaurant at KLCC: One restaurant that should open in SG
The interior was stylishly done. Mexican style no less. Service was great and prices were basically reasonable as we get a set meal with drink and a soup for less than SGD 10, I think.

The Spicy chicken set that PH ordered and it's fiery hot even for me. I'm glad I stuck to my choice of medium hot.

I ordered my quarter chicken with Greek salad and mediteranean rice as sides. The chicken was very well-flavoured all the way to the ribs! The rice was mildly flavoured with herbs and I think butter as well. It's so good that I'm going to try cooking rice in the same style once I get back home. They could improve on the soup, which tasted too campbellish for my liking. (Take a hint from the Garlice Restaurant Mushroom soup that's so thick and rich in flavour.) PH (Princess Heartbeat) introduced us to this Mexican Restaurant in KLCC. I was looking forward to Mexican food partly because they have the best tasting and fiery sauces ever! Jacqueline at work shared with me that her bf, a big fan of the mexican sauces actually bought bottles of it to store and now they probably have enough to start drinking the stuff to get rid of it.

Hahaha! Connotation in its most explicit form. We had a good laugh while waiting for the coach to stop at the terminal. Somehow, the letters were crying out loud to be noticed and we managed to snap a few shots on the moving coach. Later on at night, as we were strolling along Petaling Market, we realised that the building was just in front of it!

En route to KL, the coach made a stop for us to have lunch. I cannot remember the name of the place as I was in a daze from inactivity on the coach. But they serve some really good prawn noodles, claypot style. Environment was pretty hygienic as compared to some other stops I have been to. The noodles might be too spicy for some, but the broth packed a good punch of herbs and the taste of kangkong adds to a whole new experience of Prawn noodles M'sia Style.
